In 1991, our community was deeply saddened by the loss of Berlyn Cosman, a Crescenta Valley High School student who was tragically taken from us at an unsupervised post-prom party. In her memory, Prom Plus was created in 1994 to provide a safe and enjoyable alternative for seniors celebrating after prom.

Prom Plus is a supervised event held at the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA from midnight to 5 a.m.

 

Every year, over 400 seniors and their guests join us for a night of fun and safety.
Our event features a variety of activities, including:

 

• a full casino with Blackjack, Poker, Craps, and Roulette,

• pool tables and ping-pong,

• photo booths, a DJ, arcade games

• a mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, zip line

• face painting, crafts, and so much more.
   

We also offer delicious food options like pizza, sandwiches, fresh fruit, cookies, smoothies, and beverages. Admission is included with a prom ticket, and seniors not attending prom can join us for just $30 at the door.

Our mission is to make Prom Plus a memorable part of every senior’s prom experience.

The growing attendance each year shows us that our community values a safe and memorable celebration.

 

In 2009, we launched the Prom Plus Club, our student-led volunteer group, to involve CVHS students directly in planning and supporting the event. The club has become one of Crescenta Valley’s most dynamic and respected volunteer organizations, participating in initiatives like the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Hosting Prom Plus requires over $30,000 a year. In the past we've raised funds through various events, including back-to-school barbecues, an annual holiday boutique, and the Taste of Montrose, which highlights our local restaurants.

 

We are always on the look-out for creative “fun-raising” ideas and rely on the generosity of our community to support this important tradition.
